Abstract

This article examines the impact of artificial intelligence on the labour market and the role of human capital in adapting to technological change, taking account of conditions in Uzbekistan. The study is based on a review and comparative analysis of academic publications, international studies and national sources. It focuses on changes in work tasks, productivity, employment and skill requirements. The findings show that improved performance in individual operations through AI does not automatically lead to higher earnings or more jobs. Particular importance is attached to employment opportunities for early-career professionals and their acquisition of practical experience. Human capital is considered both a prerequisite for the effective use of AI and a resource that changes under its influence. In Uzbekistan, widespread internet use coexists with limitations in workforce training and firms' adoption of technology. The article argues for combining training in AI use with the development of foundational and professional skills, maintaining mentoring and assessing workers' ability to perform independently.
