Abstract

The article analyzes the pedagogical and linguodidactic foundations of using visual-didactic materials in native (Uzbek) language teaching. It clarifies the essence of the concept of visual-didactic material and proposes its classification. The didactic potential of text, images, schemes, diagrams and infographics is compared. The relationship between verbal and visual information is interpreted through dual coding theory and principles of multimedia learning. The impact of visuals on students’ cognitive activity, thinking and speech development is examined, and local and foreign approaches are summarized.
